In fifth grade, students will practice more complex mathematical concepts such as exponents, decimals, fractions and more. Stories include leveled stories, children's stories and fables. This activity includes reading comprehension questions, a writing prompt, and teach students to monitor their speed, read with expression, and improve accuracy when reading aloud. Grade 5 students, who are mostly around 10 or 11 years of age, are on the threshold of teenage, and have been called 'tweens'.
